This deal has us reconsidering our day job!

Arizona Cardinals superstar Kyler Murray has now joined the National Football League’s (NFL) highest-paid quarterback club with a $230.5 million deal, ESPN reports.

The deal is set to run through the 2028 season and includes a guarantee of $160 million if he were to be injured.

Additionally, Murray will get a $105 million advance simply for signing the agreement.

Annually, he is set to receive $46.1 million, bringing him right on the heels of the highest-paid quarterback title in the NFL, which is currently held by Green Bay Packers QB, Aaron Rodgers. Trailing behind him with the largest salaries includes Cleveland Browns star Deshaun Watson, who averages $46 million per season.

Joining The Big Playmakers

Murray is joining Watson in terms of making history.

Watson’s deal is quite historic in itself as the only one in NFL history with a guaranteed payout of $230 million.

While the Cardinals did confirm Murray’s five-year extension on Thursday (July 21), they did not disclose the full terms of the deal.

A Multi-Talented King

Murray was selected first overall by the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft. However, he isn’t just talented in football.

The 24-year-old is also quite the baseball star. In 2018, Murray was selected ninth overall during the June Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.

According to ESPN, Murray received a $4.66 million signing bonus during the June 2018 draft, but by the fall, he became the starting quarterback for the University of Oklahoma.

Ultimately, he led the team to the playoffs and walked away with the Heisman Trophy. The success would soon aid him in the decision to completely leave baseball behind, focusing his energy completely on football.

The move, however, cost him a pretty penny, causing him to have to repay $1.29 million of the $1.5 million bonus he had previously received from the MLB.

In the end, Murray still came out on top because with his latest NFL contract, he could repay that MLB bonus a couple of times over.
