Popular stoner holiday, 4/20, just got more delicious.
Kelis announced “Cooked with Cannabis,” a weed-infused culinary competition show on Netflix set to launch next month. The six-episode series will be co-hosted by Portland-based chef Leather Storrs, reports Food & Wine.
“Interestingly, this was one of those things that I didn’t go looking for, it kind of came to me,” Kelis, the Le Cordon Bleu-educated cook, wrote on Instagram. “As a chef, I was intrigued by the food and as an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society.”
Known as “the Anthony Bourdain of weed,” Lorrs says the series is “granular, educational, heartfelt and smart.” Each episode will feature three professional chefs racing the clock to create three-course meals. Meals will be based on themes, from futuristic foods and world-renowned eats. The winner will walk away with a $10,000 prize.
“The contestants had personal and romantic relationships with the herb and they knew its intricacies: medically, chemically, spiritually and as an intoxicant. Further, there was a real sense of community and camaraderie,” says Storrs. “This is a show for food people, for stoners and for folks that are curious about both.
The kitchen will heat up with a star-studded dinner guest list, including talk show host Ricki Lake, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub, and rappers Too $hort and El-P.
Before her new streaming spot, Kelis starred in “Saucy and Sweet,” a cooking TV show on The Cooking Channel.
