Creative money moves are coming from MVP Joel Embiid as he announces the launch of Miniature Géant, a media company in partnership with SpringHill Company.
The new partnership with SpringHill Company — co-founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter — marks the expansion of the creative firm’s footprint.
According to Variety, Miniature Géant will highlight stories of people who have taken non-traditional paths to success. The studio will produce scripted and unscripted content across several multimedia channels, including video, audio, and branded content.
“I want it to be successful, but I want it done the right way. The whole goal is just to try to tell people stories and use my platform to inspire the next generation,” Embiid told Variety.
One of the company’s first projects will be an adaptation of Sebastian Abbot’s book “The Away Game: The Epic Search for Soccer’s Next Superstars.” In partnership with John Skipper’s Meadowlark Media, the story is centered on a group of 13-year-old boys from Africa, scouted to play at an elite soccer academy.
The story parallels Embiid’s as he was recruited from his home country, Cameroon, to play U.S. basketball. Embiid will serve as executive producer alongside Skipper and Deirdre Fenton.
Additional upcoming projects from Miniature Géant will include a biographical sketch of Embiid’s journey to NBA superstardom. Carter will be the co-executive producer of this documentary.
“Joel Embiid is one of the greatest basketball players of this generation, but he’s an even better human being. He’s incredibly smart, funny, and thoughtful, and we’re really lucky to have this opportunity to work with him as he shares his unique point of view with the world,” said Carter, according to a report from Shadow and Act. “At SpringHill, our mission is empowerment, and UNINTERRUPTED was built to empower athletes as creators so they can create important and impactful content. Joel is the perfect person to do this with.”
