Jay-Z wants to teach cryptocurrency to the community where he grew up.

The mogul has joined Twitter founder Jack Dorsey for The Bitcoin Academy — a financial literacy program for residents of the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn, New York — Complex reports.

The Bitcoin Academy

Funded by Jay-Z and Dorsey, the initiative is set “to provide education and empower the community with knowledge” on crypto and other financial investments — free of charge. Beginning on June 22, The Bitcoin Academy will offer both online and in-person courses two times a week for 12 weeks, per the outlet. The curriculum aims to break down barriers regarding access to financial education.

With the help of their platforms Block and the Shawn Carter Foundation teaming up with Crypto Blockchain Plug and Black Bitcoin Billionaire, the two are starting with Marcy Houses with the vision of more communities in the future.

“Shout out to @Jack. #Bitcoin Academy, starting in Marcy, a place that taught me so much, is hopefully the first of many,” Jay-Z wrote via Twitter. “The simple goal is to provide people tools to build independence for themselves and then the community around them.”

Gloria Carter, Jay-Z’s mother and president of the Shawn Carter Foundation shares a statement:

“The Shawn Carter Foundation has always been about providing educational access and opening doors of opportunity to underserved communities. No one should be left out or behind. We truly appreciate the partnership with Block and Jack Dorsey to bring financial, specifically bitcoin education to the Marcy residents, where I spent many years raising my family. Everyone should be empowered to make informed financial decisions in order to take care of themselves and their families.”
