Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee has a new gig.

In an exclusive report for Variety, it was revealed that the blogger landed a job on Kanye West’s media team. The outlet confirms that Lee will head up Ye’s media and partnerships team.

As can perhaps be expected, Jason Lee shared the news with the outlet before West made it official.

“I think after the interview on Hollywood Unlocked, it was clear that we had an aligned vision for leveling the playing field in the media,” he said to the outlet exclusively. “Ye voiced a vision for a company he was building, and that media was an arm of that, and he felt that I could be an asset.”

This isn’t the first time that Lee has worked with West in such a capacity. He served as the media consultant for the “Donda 2” launch, and he was also responsible for West’s hiring of the DKC publicity firm back in February 2022.

However, Lee also made it clear that despite his newfound role with West, he wouldn’t be shutting down Hollywood Unlocked.

“Hollywood Unlocked is a company I started in 2015 with the purpose of pulling back the veil of the industry and giving fans a closer perspective and access to your favorite stars,” he said. “This relationship allows for that to become a reality. We will continue to have the voice we have regardless of what he is doing; however, we offer our platform to him to clear the air when he feels he wants to.”

Who is Jason Lee?

Jason Lee is a longtime blogger and media personality, and the CEO and founder of Hollywood Unlocked.

You may also know him from his appearance as a guest star on “Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood.” According to The U.S. Sun, he also secured a starring role on seasons three and six.

A Brief History of Kanye West's Relationship with Jason Lee

In January 2022, Jason Lee snagged an exclusive interview with Kanye West for Hollywood Unlocked.

Just one month later, according to Black Enterprise, Lee and West co-hosted a gathering where 50 of America’s most prominent Black journalists got together to discuss how the media portrays Black men and women. It was a brunch called “The Black Future Brunch,” and it came after West announced that Black History Month should, instead, be called “Black Future Month.”

Rumors about Lee’s new position with West’s company began surfacing on March 10, 2022, when The Source revealed that Lee was “reportedly” West’s new media manager. Now, however, with this latest announcement, it’s been confirmed.
