Becoming debt-free is no easy feat, but by the age of 24, I was able to pay off $37,000 in student loans. Through sharing my story, I uncovered fears hidden within my friend group. A common theme was believing they had too much debt, the practice of avoiding debt, the shame of accumulating more debt, and uncertainty about how to stop living paycheck to paycheck.

Once the fears were in the open, there was an opportunity to heal and grow. After helping my friends, one friend noted that the information was life-changing and too valuable not to share on a larger scale. From there, CreateFinStew was born. What began as a journey of helping my social circle developed into building a company that creatively transforms the financial stewardship of individuals and organizations.

Financial Stewardship

Financial stewardship is important to me and should be important to everyone because it helps foster good intentions about our present and our future. We are called to be good stewards of the resources and people we are responsible for. A CEO is responsible to lead their employees, parents are responsible for caring for their children, and adults are responsible for properly utilizing their resources (money).

I recall a client being good at saving money, but I taught her how to be more intentional with her money. She can happily say that with my help, she was able to pay off $33,000 in student loans! My clients started paying down their debt and started sharing their stories with their friends.

How We Started

Since 2014, our company has helped 38 clients eliminate over $188,000 in student loan/credit card debt. We’re teaching people how to write a different financial stewardship narrative. One of my clients was initially embarrassed by even allowing me to know about his finances.

”It was definitely embarrassing at first knowing that I wasn’t taking my finances seriously, but Jasmine was so patient and understanding that in one session I was able to cut my debt by 25 percent.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t unique. We all have unique stories about finances, and that’s okay! It’s important to be transparent in this process and be open to trying new things.

Our Goal

CreateFinStew was created out of the love of people, finances, and God. I will always make myself available to discuss finances with people. We have had clients before we even started a business because of the importance of sharing a healthy creative financial stewardship narrative. CreateFinStew develops a narrative that will express our clients’ creative side, clings to the word of God, and can be passed down from generation to generation.
