While she studied communications at the University of North Florida, Chen worked in restaurants, planning ahead and saving her coins because eventually, she would want to launch her own business.

She worked as a waitress for years before she landed a job in marketing at a local place in North Florida by the name of Oceanside Grill.

It was here that the former waitress began to learn the operations that go into running a restaurant.

In 2019, she launched her own marketing firm which focuses on graphic design, hiring, social media management, and video creation. Her first clients were attained the old-fashioned way — selling marketing services door to door.

“I would say, ‘hey I found your social and saw you weren’t active and I wanted to give you some tips on how you can get more customers in the door,'” said Chen in an interview with Insider.

From there, Chen would leave behind a business card and wait for companies to call.

Now, her company has 17 clients and brings in over six figures a year.

“I’m working toward seven streams of income to be a millionaire by 2025,” the former waitress said.
