Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus are winning in business together.
Among their shared ventures is Dr. Bombay Ice Cream. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the brand was inspired by a moment of frustration Snoop Dogg experienced while trying to mix different flavors during a bout of the munchies.
Now the ice cream brand, which hit the ground running in July 2023, comes in countless flavors such as:
- Strawberry Cream Dream
- Baked Blueberry Muffin
- Tropical Sherbet Swizzle
- Peanut Butter Jelly Time
- Iced Out Orange Cream
- Syrupy Waffle Sundaze
- S’more’s Vibes
“Ice cream is more than just a snack to me; it’s a way to chill, relax, and get happy. That’s exactly what I want Dr. Bombay Ice Cream to do. Bring a smile to your face and ease your mind. I’ve poured my heart and soul into perfecting these first seven flavors…,” Snoop Dogg said when launching the brand, according to Dairy Foods.
Blavity reports that the company has expanded into Walmart and convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and Speedway. The company’s success is also partly due to the contributions of Broadus, who served as the creative director and is driven by the legacy of his great-grandfather.
“It starts with my great-grandfather in Mississippi,” Broadus told Blavity. “He owned a dairy farm, and we’re not, you know, using those recipes or nothing like that, but just the mentality of being a Black man in the ’50s and ’60s, owning land, owning, you know, things that can bring passive income. That’s how we think. We’re trying to build generational wealth, and we’re trying to build a legacy, you know, that will never be forgotten, not just in ice cream, but in branding in general.”
Their mission to generate wealth is already coming to fruition. On Instagram, Broadus revealed Dr. Bombay Ice Cream has reportedly generated millions in revenue since its launch.
“Since its inception a little over a year ago, Dr. Bombay Ice Cream has already generated more than $10 million in revenue. It is now distributed in most grocers across the nation. Broadus said this is just the beginning,” he commented on Instagram.
