When you’ve been blessed, it’s only right to return the favor to others.

After he was presented with the Lifetime Achievement honor at the 2022 BET Awards, Diddy promised to donate $1 million to both Howard University and Jackson State University. The Hip-Hop mogul, whose real name is Sean Combs, is a true gift to the culture and he received his well-deserved flowers in a star-studded event that included performances by Jodeci, Mary J Blige, Lil Kim, Busta Rhymes, and more.

After Diddy hit the stage and showed fans just why the iconic Diddy-bop will remain a cultural staple, he was acknowledged for all he’s done in the industry by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and Kanye West.

A Living Legend

“How do we crown our kings? How do we appreciate our kings?” said West. “To think how far we could just make it off of inspiration, to hear the way somebody chopped a sample in … rushing to see who could get the Bad Boy mixtape and playback the original version of ‘Benjamins,’ over and over, thinking I was one of the Hit Men. I was signed to Puff without him knowing.”

Back To Where It All Started

Diddy is no stranger to life at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In fact, he briefly attended Howard University, before leaving to pursue a career in entertainment under the leadership of Andre Harrell at Uptown Records.

From there, the rest is history. He helped to jumpstart the careers of the hottest names in the game, from Mary J. Blige to the Notorious B.I.G. and beyond.

Now, he is giving back to where it all started with a massive donation to his former school. He also reiterated the commitment to supporting HBCUs by pledging another million to Jackson State University, where Deion Sanders leads as the head coach of the football team.

“I want to donate a million dollars to Howard University,” Diddy exclaimed. “Also I’m gonna drop another million dollars on Deion Sanders and Jackson State because we should play for us. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart, I love y’all — peace.”

Looks like the saga has no choice but to continue.
