Dame Dash is opening up with his account of him and Jay-Z’s brotherhood, which he believes took a left turn into betrayal.

Brotherhood To What Dame Calls "Betrayal"

When you talk about powerful duos in Hip-Hop from the prime era of the 90s, the two New Yorkers lead on the list. But following issues with their former record label Roc-A-Fella Records, they have been in a public beef that has spanned over 20 years.

Although two decades have passed since the beginning of the fallout, Dash has continued to be outspoken in detailing past situations with Jay-Z.

During an interview with Tony The Closer, he shared that he believes the root of the issue was money ruling over loyalty. However, he says the situation happening was inevitable as they were deep in the rings of the music business.

“Yeah, all that, but we were friends. … Like, how would you feel if your brother just betrayed you for money? Would it hurt?” he said, according to Complex.

Dame Dash Speaks Out On What Went Down

“That’s the algorithm. It wasn’t surprising ’cause that’s what always happens,” Dame said. “It was surprising ’cause no one—that’s what it was, we were breaking the algorithm, we were doing it a different way and sticking together, but that’s what always happens. They make one sell out the other, their friend, divide and conquer, that’s a normal story.”

He added: “That was my n***a, like we never argued, nothing. That’s why I didn’t know it was coming. … That was some real slick shit. I was like, ‘That n***a’s cold. He’s cold.’”

Reasonable Doubt Lawsuit

For a year, the two businessmen were in a legal battle after Dame Dash attempted to auction Jay-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt” album as a non-fungible token (NFT). As previously shared by AfroTech, they went on to reportedly reach a settlement in the lawsuit.
