When it comes to celebrity real estate purchases, we often hear about mega-mansions purchased by the likes of Tom Cruise and Justin Bieber.

However, what about Black celebrity real estate purchases?

Take AfroTech’s recent report, for example, about Byron Allen’s media empire. He’s one of the wealthiest men in the entertainment industry, and part of that wealth came from a sizable real estate empire.

“His first big deal came in 2018, when he bought a nearly $23 million island retreat in Hawaii. In 2019, The Wall Street Journal reported that Allen purchased a 3,000 sq. ft. condo at 220 Central Park South, one of Manhattan’s most expensive buildings. He plopped down $26.75 million for the purchase. That same year, Variety reported that Allen paid $19.9 million for a nearly-12,000 sq. ft. mansion in Beverly Hills. And in 2020, he rounded out his real estate portfolio with a $27 million purchase in Aspen, CO, according to Fox Business,” we reported.

With this in mind, we decided to take a look at some other Black celebrity real estate purchases…and what we found will certainly blow your mind. From LeBron’s multi-state empire to Tiger Woods’ international joints, these Black celebrities know how to invest wisely.

Business Insider recently gave a full overview of Tiger Woods’ various real estate ventures, and needless to say, it was quite expansive — and spans over several countries. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s real estate empire is one worth gushing over. There’s a Hidden Hills mega-mansion worth $20 million, there’s Kim’s $60 million comparable mega-mansion in Hidden Hills, there’s Kanye’s $2.2 million “bachelor pad” in Los Angeles, a country estate worth $3 million, and the $14 million Wyoming ranch.

Dr. Dre’s crown jewel is the $40 million French chateau that he purchased from Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen back in 2014 (which he negotiated down from $50 million). But his real estate portfolio includes a $2.25 million mansion in the Pacific Palisades district of Los Angeles, which Dre purchased in 2019, and a $4.9 million home in Calabasas, CA, that also has a recording studio.

Back in November 2015, LeBron James first started making waves in the real estate market when Curbed reported that he purchased a custom-made Los Angeles home for $21 million. Since then, James has gone on to build a veritable empire of his own. He purchased a home in Beverly Hills that once belonged to soap opera legends the Bells for $36 million, he owns a Brentwood estate worth $21 million, and he owns a compound in Ohio that he paid only $2 million for (but is worth $9 million today).

Diddy's $35M Star Island Mansion

In August 2021, Diddy made headlines when he advised his followers to stop blowing their money on jewelry and cars, and start investing in real estate. And that’d be something he’d know more than a little bit about: AllHipHop.com reported that just one month after he gave his followers that invaluable bit of advice, he purchased a $35 million home in Miami’s exclusive Star Island (a home which was formerly owned by the Estefans). Diddy can add that purchase to his existing real estate portfolio of a $40 million Los Angeles mansion. But, the Internet never forgets, and even Diddy’s “abandoned” homes go viral, as you can see in the video below.

Back in 2015, Realtor.com reported that Beyoncé and Jay-Z were renting a $45 million compound in Los Angeles at a staggering rate of $150,000/month. But that’s not what makes it so gob-smacking. Rather, a follow-up report revealed that the reason the couple was renting the mansion was that they were outbid by designer Tom Ford on a $50 million estate. But, don’t cry for the Carters: they currently own a ritzy mansion in New Orleans, a compound in The Hamptons on Long Island, and an $88 million compound in Bel-Air, CA.

According to Architectural Digest, Steph & Ayesha Curry aren’t afraid of all the nice things (As well they shouldn’t be)! The couple, who already had a $6 million compound in Alamo, CA, plonked down $31 million for an Atherton, CA, mansion back in 2019. The purchase made headlines because Atherton is a town in the Bay Area of California, considered “the most expensive zip code in the United States.” We stan!
