Cantu Beauty is on a mission to provide women of color around the globe with career readiness to thrive and survive.
The award-winning multicultural hair care brand will partner with Women Empowering Nations (WEN), a non-profit organization designed to provide young girls of color in underserved neighborhoods with the exposure, development, and mentorship resources they need to accelerate their journey to positions in executive leadership.
“Cantu Beauty has always been committed to supporting the next generation of female leaders by equipping them with the skills and resources to make a difference in their personal and professional lives,” said Dametria Kinsley, Cantu Beauty’s Global Vice President of Marketing, in an official press release shared with AfroTech. “Through our partnership with WEN, we’re able to take our commitment to the next level at a larger scale to reach women of color all over the world.”
The GLOW Global Experience
Since 2020, Cantu Beauty has played a role in the GLOW Virtual Summit as a sponsor helping to equip young women worldwide with scholarships to help continue their education.
Programming of the latest partnership will kick off in June 2022. It will feature a summit where women and girls of color representing a spectrum of paths in entrepreneurship and leadership will be given a chance to share their experiences with over 1,000 young women in leadership.
“We are elated to team up with Cantu Beauty on this program investing in the future and talent development of young women of color,” said Carlisha Williams Bradley, Women Empowering Nation’s Founder and Executive Director. “Young women receiving training from a company who makes products that caters to them and has a fellowship that addresses our unique cultural needs is rare. This partnership can change the career trajectory of young women around the world.”
The 2022 Summit
During the event, 10 young women from the GLOW Global Cohort will be announced and will have the opportunity to move forward to participate in Cantu’s GLOW Global Fellowship.
Each participating country will have two participants represent them as an intern at Cantu Beauty for the span of four months. Not only will they walk away with hands-on experience, but the girls in the program will also receive a monetary stipend.
The fellows will conclude the program with a capstone and a group travel seminar to Nigeria in the fall where they will participate in service-learning projects, brand promotions, Cantu executive meet and greets, leadership sessions, and career workshops.
