Black Santa is here in digital form just in time for the holidays!

Baron Davis Enterprises and Crypto.com have announced an exclusive non-fungible token (NFT) drop that is centered around Black Santa, the lead character and intellectual property (IP) created for the Davis’ multimedia content company, UWish.

In a collection that will be released today (Dec. 17), the two-time NBA All-Star and entrepreneur is on a mission to give children a magical world of untold possibilities through the digitized character.

“I believe that it is very important for Black children to see themselves accurately represented,” said Davis in an exclusive email interview with AfroTech. “In sports, it’s people of all cultures celebrating creativity, art, and entertainment. I want to be able to bridge that gap and tell the story behind Black Santa and find new Santas that represent the people who are in sports and the world.”

Black Santa

Not only will fans get to experience the jolly old man, but the Black Santa Company offers a range of high-quality products that include clothing, Christmas ornaments, books, and even an original album, “The Black Santa Winter Wonderland Mixtape.”

“Black Santa means the world to me. It is important for Black Santa to be reflected through this collection because I think part of my responsibility to the world and to kids is to show that black men can be represented and equated as positive figures such as Santa Clause,” Davis expressed. ”I want to be able to show the world Santa Clause through the lens of black men.”

Another character in the Black Santa universe is Mrs. C, Black Santa’s wife, who is also an entrepreneur, and “STEM Whiz.”

Giving Back

Davis is not only on a mission to give back through a character that accurately represents the children who look up to him, but the NBA Superstar will also donate a portion of the proceeds from the NFT drop to the Los Angeles Urban League, an organization promoting economic empowerment for Black people and those in underserved communities.

“When you think about the Los Angeles Urban League servicing the community for more than 100 years, you think about how long they’ve supported young, Black entrepreneurs,” Davis told AfroTech. “At UWish, the goal is to build a new Black Wall Street. UWish has positioned itself to support the Urban League to help foster these young creatives and young business minds. We believe with the Black Santa initiative with UWish, all of our multicultural characters can come alive and be a part of that influence.”
