The wait is over for the late Virgil Abloh’s highly-anticipated exclusive sneaker release.
Fans of the trailblazing designer now have the chance to get their hands on Nike x Louis Vuitton Air Force 1 shoes, which are set for online auction, according to TMZ. The unique air forces were created by Abloh for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 collection and were first initially revealed in June 2021.
The Iconic Collaboration
The custom sneakers ranging from sizes 5 to 18 will be sold in an exclusive colorway along with an orange Taurillon Monogram leather Louis Vuitton pilot case, according to the outlet.
WWD reports that the shoes are “made of calf leather, featuring Vuitton’s signature Monogram and Damier patterns, with natural cowhide piping.” Abloh left his special mark on them with materials from his Louis Vuitton men’s collections, as well as Off-White’s signature quote marks.
Sotheby's Online Auction
On Jan. 26, 2022, pairs will go up for sale on Sotheby’s. Bids start at $2,000 and the auction will come to a close on Feb. 8.
Auction Proceeds
The proceeds from the auction are set to go to Abloh’s “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund. Launched in July 2020, the fund was created in partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund to support the next generation of Black fashion industry leaders.
“I’ve always been passionate about giving the next generation of students the same foundation for success that was given to me,” the late Abloh shared in 2020, according to ELLE. “That’s why I’m excited to launch this Fund in partnership with the FSF, which has an outstanding track record of helping college students achieve successful careers.”
