The first African American executive producer of “The View” is switching gears in the daytime talk show world. Candi Carter, who’s spent the last five years serving as the executive producer of “The View,” will be taking over for Talia Parkinson-Jones as “The Tamron Hall Show’s” new showrunner. This new change for the ABC daytime talk show comes ahead of “The Tamron Hall Show’s” second season.

Candi Carter is a television producer veteran that’s been serving in the industry for over 20 years, beginning her career in Atlanta at CNN, according to EBONY. She later moved on to produce for WISN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, where she earned her first Emmy Award. She then joined “The Oprah Winfrey Show” as a senior producer for 15 years.

After the show ended its long-standing run in 2011, Carter raised capital to help start her Chicago-based production company, New Chapter Entertainment. As CEO of her company, she developed and produced several unscripted TV shows and even launched two talk shows for Telepictures TV – “Just Keke” on BET and “Ice & Coco” on FOX.

In the early fall of 2015, Carter signed on to be an executive producer for “The View,” where she lasted five full seasons. Now she’s taking her talents to “The Tamron Hall Show” to support another daytime talk show powerhouse.

Whoopi Goldberg, a co-host of “The View,” confirmed the news of Carter’s departure while broadcasting from her home last week. Carter also joined her on camera to say her goodbyes.

Hall’s show made its television debut in September of last year, serving a mix of celebrity guests and wellness segments for viewers. After a successful run in its first season, the talk show was renewed for a sophomore season in the fall. The show is currently on hold amid our current health crisis.
