Pyer Moss Couture Show Pays Homage To Black Inventors

Black excellence was on full display this weekend as Kerby Jean-R aymond, the first Black American designer to present at Paris Haute Couture Week , showcased the  Pyer Moss Fall 2021 Couture Collection at the estate of the late Madam C.J. Walker . AfroTech was invited to the Villa Lewaro to witness this historic event and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The ambiance was set from the minute guests arrived. With an all-Black live band decked out in all-white attire, it was as if you walked into a Harlem Renaissance party set in the digital age. However, the most jaw-dropping moment of all was the fashion. Pyer Moss Announces Runway Return After Two-Year Hiatus From NYFW

After a two-year runway hiatus, Kerby Jean-Raymond’s Pyer Moss will be making its grand return to New York Fashion Week (NYFW) in September. According to a press release, Pyer Moss Collection 4 will debut on the second weekend of September, just before this year’s American-themed Met Gala. The upcoming show marks the brand’s first major runway appearance since its 2019’s Collection 3 — the third and final installment of the “American” series — which called attention to the erasure of Black narratives in popular culture. Jean-Raymond debuted that final installment in the Kings Theatre in his hometown Flatbush, Brooklyn to a 3,000-person crowd full of industry heads, celebrities, and fans. More details surrounding Pyer Moss’ Collection 4 will be announced in the coming months ahead of the runway show. Pyer Moss Founder Kerby Jean-Raymond Donates $50K to Minority and Women-Led Small Businesses

Designer Kerby Jean-Raymond of Pyer Moss has pledged to combat the damage that the coronavirus pandemic is currently inflicting on his community. Via an Instagram announcemen t on his personal page, the founder detailed Your Friends In New York, an initiative to help alleviate financial and supply issues for independent businesses and medical professionals.
