Depending On The Ruling, This Job Discrimination Case Could Make It Easier For Majority Backgrounds To File Similar Claims

The Supreme Court appears to be in favor of lowering the standard for what is required to prove job discrimination when it comes to people who are white, straight, or male. According to The Washington Post, a discrimination lawsuit had been filed in 2020 by Marlean Ames. She had previously been employed at the Ohio government agency managing juvenile corrections. Ames says her position was given to a young gay man in 2019. Then someone else she considered less qualified later received a promotion that she thought she deserved. Ames is a heterosexual white woman and stated that this person was a lesbian. The lower court did not see enough evidence to prove job discrimination had taken place, therefore it ruled against her. For those from majority backgrounds, more evidence is required to show proof that discrimination in the workplace occurred. However, a ruling in Ames’ favor could lead to more “reverse discrimination” lawsuits, Reuters notes. A strong defense would be that majority...

Meet Jotaka Eaddy, A Politics And Tech Social Impact Consultant Who Led The Raising Of $1.6M For Kamala Harris Via A Zoom Call

A movement that was birthed out of the COVID-19 quarantine has raised millions of dollars to support Kamala Harris’ quest as the first Black woman president of the United States. “Win With Black Women” (WWBW) is a mantra and group conceptualized by Jotaka Eaddy, a social impact consultant in politics and technology who founded Full Circle Strategies. She understood the importance of community early on as a high school student looking to attend a conference geared towards those seeking law careers, Fortune reports. Raised in a humble environment in South Carolina, the $3,000 cost for the conference was out of reach for her parents. However, through the support of Black women church-goers she was able to attend. “Black women in my church and in my community sold chicken dinners and held bake sales to raise money to send me to that conference and to put me on an airplane that many of them have still never been on,” Eaddy said, according to Fortune. She went on to make history as the...

Lil Wayne Once Had $14M In Tax Debt And Jay-Z Came Through — 'That Man Helped Me With My Taxes'

At one point in Hip-Hop history, fans were divided on who was the best rapper in the game. While many iconic MCs have come and are present, the mid-2000s served as a time when Lil Wayne made it clear that he believed he was the best rapper alive. The “best” status is relative to individual preferences, but it did not stop the Louisiana-born rapper from making a claim and even writing a song highlighting the sentiment. Lil Wayne officially hit the music scene in the mid-1990s as a member of the Hot Boys with fellow band members – Juvenile, B.G., and Turk. The four rappers produced hits like “I Need a Hot Girl” and “Rock Ice.” Wayne would launch a solo career in 1999 with his debut album, “The Block is Hot.” However, it wouldn’t be until 2004 that the then 22-year-old rapper would gain increased popularity with the release of “The Carter,” which turned into a series of albums, catapulting the rapper into Hip-Hop superstardom. In 2012, he would take the Billboard title as the male...

Lil Wayne Gave His First Paycheck Of $6,500 To His Mom, But She Gave It Back — So, The Multi-Millionaire Did This Instead

Owning your first car is a great feeling. From the sense of independence to the flexing you’re able to do on your friends, having reliable transportation can be both a privilege and a necessity. Many people have their first car experience in their teens, and Cash Money legend Lil Wayne was no different. At the start of his career, when he was figuring it all out and adapting to fame, Wayne allegedly took his first check and bought himself a car. But it wasn’t that simple. Born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., the Louisiana rapper entered the game when he was only 14-years-old. During the initial phase of his rap career, Carter was a part of the popular rap group The Hot Boys. The group — comprised of himself, B.G, Juvenile, and Turk — was officially formed in 1997 and produced songs like “We On Fire” and “I Need A Hot Girl.” Wayne would go on to release his first solo album in 1999, “Tha Block Is Hot.” It would peek on the Billboard 200 at the No. 3 spot and become certified platinum. The...

Which Of The Hot Boys Has The Highest Net Worth?

25 years after the Hot Boys first hit the scene, Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Turk, and B.G. are still making waves in the industry. As Lil Wayne explained in his “Behind the Music” episode back in 2009, the Hot Boys were first formed in the summer of 1997, and their debut album, “Get It How U Live!” sold 400,00 copies on the success of such singles as “Block Burner.” Subsequently, the Hot Boys would appear in each of the member’s solo projects, and they can notably be seen in Lil Wayne’s video “Tha Block is Hot” and B.G.’s “Bling Bling.” Even though the group is no longer together, they’re still finding ways to work together against all odds. The first time the Hot Boys worked together after they disbanded was in 2009, when Lil Wayne — arguably, the biggest breakout star of the group — brought out Juvenile and B.G. during a tour stop in New Orleans. At the time, both Wayne and B.G. confirmed to Baller Alert that a Hot Boys reunion was in the works. “We was Hot Boys then, now we Hot Men,”...

Love him or hate him, Lil Wayne remains paid. From the minute his career launched in 1995 — when he was the all of twelve-years-old — he’s remained at the top of the charts. He first hit it big as part of the Hot Boys collective (that also launched the career of Juvenile), then exploded when he finally went solo. Lil Wayne has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. These sales records, according to the RIAA, make him one of the world’s best-selling artists. It’s a record that he held until 2017, when fellow Young Money alum Drake shattered that record with 154 songs (Drake, as of this writing, still holds the record to this day). All of this success has certainly paid off for the New Orleans native. Stuntin' Like Birdman: How The Young Money Capo's Business Ventures Garnered Him A $100M Net Worth

Say whatever you want about Bryan “Birdman” Williams, but at the end of the day, he’s part of Hip-Hop royalty. Without him, there would be no Drake. Without him, Nicki Minaj would still be “Mixtape Nicki” in Queens. And without him, Lil’ Wayne’s career would have hit the skids after The Hot Boys called it a day. (“Back Dat Azz Up” proved that Juvenile, not Lil’ Wayne, was gunning for the gold.) At his peak, Birdman said that he was buying 100 new cars every six months, which he would then give away to family and friends when he no longer had any use for them. So extensive was his car collection, in fact, that when Hurricane Katrina blazed through New Orleans, he claimed to Jet Magazine that he lost five houses, 20 condos, 30 cars, and the Cash Money headquarters in New Orleans. According to The New York Post, even his “abandoned” property in New Orleans — which was all but wiped out during Katrina — is worth more than $600,000, in the condition that it’s in. So, the man knows money....
