Southern rapper Bun B now has bragging rights that extend even beyond the music industry. As AfroTech previously told you in July 2021, Bun B ventured into the restaurant business to open Trill Burgers, a pop-up hamburger shop in his home city of Houston, TX. Now, it’s been named the best burger in America. The restaurant’s OG Trill Burger caught the attention of the judges on Good Morning America’s “United States of Burgers” competition. The staple menu item is made from 44 Farms beef, Trill Sauce, pickles, caramelized onions, and a Martin’s potato bun.

Blossoming from the heart of Houston, another Black-owned vodka company has hit the market. Houston Chronicle reports 10 Black entrepreneurs and peers from Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, The University of Texas at Austin, Wiley College, University of Houston, and Cornell University have joined forces to launch General Orders No. 3. (GO3) — named after the order which freed enslaved people on on June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas. The group wanted to launch a Houston-made vodka encapsulating the spirit of Texas’ heritage and culture.

Shaquille O’Neal is always raising the bar! As AfroTech previously reported, the basketball legend and serial entrepreneur became a co-owner of Big Chicken in 2018 before introducing the restaurant chain to Las Vegas and California. Now, it appears Shaq is still on the move! Houston Chronicle reports Big Chicken will be opening 50 locations throughout Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin. Houston continues to show support to 50 Cent. As previously reported by AfroTech, the rapper moved to the city in 2021 and has settled in, making it his new home. However, he’s just received a grand welcome through a new collaboration.
