Boys & Girls Clubs of America — the national voluntary organization providing after-school programs for young people — has named H Walker as its newest Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer (DEI) to help lead the organization’s long-standing commitment of building more opportunities and a better future for kids and teens.

In his newly-appointed role, Walker will be responsible for progressing the organization’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategy while also creating new initiatives for Boys & Girls Clubs chapters nationwide and key organization partnerships, a press release shares.

“I’m thrilled to join Boys & Girls Clubs of America to help continue and innovate their work to create inclusion and equity within their organization and for kids and teens in Clubs across the country,” said Walker in a statement. “Diversity, equity and inclusion is not only a strategy but should be infused in an organization’s culture, building a more equitable future for all. Boys & Girls Clubs play a pivotal role in breaking down barriers for so many young people today, and we must continue to strengthen the opportunity equation for millions that are impacted by this organization.”

Additionally, Walker will also carry out a community-focused strategy for Breaking Down Barriers — Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s commitment to calling out and tearing down racism and inequity for all youth, employees and volunteers at its respective chapters.

We are thrilled to welcome H to Boys & Girls Clubs. With his diversity, equity and inclusion expertise, I’m confident he will guide us on the right track and help us eliminate barriers for marginalized communities.”

According to a press release, Walker brings with him to the organization an expansive career of experience working with global brands like The Coca-Cola Company, IBM, McDonald’s Corporation, and the United States Postal Service, where he served in numerous organizational culture and DEI leadership roles around the world.

His work over the years has helped to transform DEI educational experiences, corporate strategies as well as structures that have inspired senior leaders, other organizations, franchisees and more to challenge their own thinking and embrace this new conscious mindset to create change.
