There’s a lot to love about Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, but some of his teammates now have another reason. Wilson just gifted each of the 13 Seahawks offensive linemen with $12,000 worth of Amazon stock for a total of $156,000, according to TMZ Sports.
Last week, Wilson became the highest-paid player in the National Football League by signing a four-year deal totaling $140 million.
“One important lesson I have learned thus far in my career: The memories on the field will last forever, but we have to constantly prepare for life after football,” Wilson said in a letter sent to each player.
Wilson said that he often invests in companies that he believes “will grow and change the world,” naming Amazon in his letter.
Wilson’s gift could be a big win for the players in the future. Amazon’s stock has increased by about 2,200 percent in the last 10 years, according to CNBC.
“You sacrifice your physical and mental well-being to protect me, which in turn allows me to provide and care for my family,” Wilson said in his letter. “This does not go unnoticed and it is never forgotten.”
