Morgan State University has received funding to provide more financial support to students.

The Historically Black College and University (HBCU) received a new commitment from the Bisciotti Family Foundation to support the next Ozzie Newsome Scholars, according to a press release. The scholarship, created by Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti and his wife, Renee, honors Ozzie Newsome, a former NFL player who later served as an executive for the Baltimore Ravens.

Maryland-based HBCUs Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore were each awarded $1 million to support their Ozzie Newsome Scholars.

Morgan State University has now received an additional $3 million commitment from the Bisciotti Family Foundation over eight years beginning in 2026 to support 40 Ozzie Newsome Scholars. Scholarships will total $15,000 per year for up to five years, or $75,000 per scholar, according to a press release.

The scholarships can be used for tuition, fees, books, technical equipment, room and board, transportation, and personal expenses.

“Since its inception, the Ozzie Newsome Scholars Program has been about more than financial support,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in the press release. “It honors Ozzie’s legacy by investing in Baltimore students whose talent, determination, and character continue to inspire us. We are proud of what these scholars have achieved and confident that Morgan State University will remain an exceptional partner in helping future scholars earn their degrees and impact Baltimore and beyond.”
