Michael Jordan may be considered one of the greatest of all time when it comes to basketball, but it looks like his ever-present love for golf is finally paying off.
While Tiger Woods may be the official face of the golf simulation gaming experience as the cover star of PGA Tour 2K23, there’s room for two GOATs as NBC 5 reveals that fans can tap into the “Michael Jordan Bonus Pack” as a part of the game’s pre-order process.
This means fans will get to immerse themselves in the game through the basketball legend, but this is not Jordan’s first stint with the game of golf. In fact, he loves it so much that he even owns a private course in Florida called “Grove XXIII.”
The Love Of Both Games
Jordan also famously golfed alongside Boston Celtics guard Danny Ainge just hours shy of their first playoff game in 1986. While the former Chicago Bulls player didn’t leave the golf course with a victory, he did get revenge by dropping 63 points against Ainge’s team during game one of the series that the Bulls ultimately went on to lose.
His love for competition is what attracted Jordan to the game of golf in the first place. He also noted that the sport is a bit like facing your own self in the mirror.
“I kind of got into golf mainly because from a competitive standpoint to me, it is the hardest game to play,” he once told another avid golf lover and NBA superstar Steph Curry. “I can always respond to an opponent, defensive guy, offensive guy whatever, but in golf, it’s like playing in a mirror. You’re battling yourself consistently to try to get perfection. Every swing. Every putt.”
