It’s not every day that you get to write your very own comic book. Now, a number of creators have been given the chance.

Inspired by the popular Angélique Roché podcast by the same name, issue #1 of Marvel’s Voices was officially released on February 19, 2020, and features a collection of essays from black and brown creators such as Method Man, Charlamagne Tha God, Roxane Gay, Rob Markman, Vita Ayala, and more.

The writers got the opportunity to tell stories from their own unique and diverse perspectives.  21 essays make up the anthology, sharing stories featuring the X-Men, Killmonger, Ms. Marvel, Captain Sam Wilson (the first black Caption America) and others.

Charlamagne, who has worked on three comics to date, took to Instagram to express his feelings of writing about black superhero Blue Marvel in “Christmas Blues.”
