The second class of college athletes is ready to rumble with WWE.
Under the professional wrestling company’s “Next In Line,” name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreements have been signed by 15 recruits including KeShaun Moore — its first-ever HBCU athlete — according to ESPN.

The Hampton linebacker has been stellar on the field, which caught the attention of WWE. Additionally, Moore believes that the NIL program can be a stepping stone for what’s next for him.
“WWE is a nationally renowned brand, and this opportunity can lead to other opportunities that support my future dreams of gaining exposure for the NFL and pursuing my goals for life after collegiate athletics,” said Moore, according to HBCU Sports.
Becoming a WWE signee comes after being a Second Team All Big South selection in 2021.
“These are the opportunities that elevate our student-athletes experiences, education, network, and net worth,” said Hampton University football head coach Robert Prunty. “Keshaun is an extraordinary young man on and off the field. I’m excited for him because he is continuously leading by example and raising the standards of excellence for Hampton football.”
He added: “He is the only HBCU student-athlete in this program, which speaks volumes about the doors he has opened for himself and wants to open for others to excel around him.”
The Newcomers
Alongside the senior college football star are Division I athletes Michigan State football and basketball’s Maliq Carr and Central Michigan women’s basketball’s Mikala Hall, Auburn All-America gymnast Derrian Gobourne, University of South Carolina track and field’s Rachel Glenn, Arkansas track and field’s Ruben Banks, and Hofstra University’s wrestler Zachary Knighton-Ward.
The new roster of athletes was officially announced on June 13 during the first annual NIL Summit in Atlanta.
The Program
According to Boardroom, the “Next In Line” program will have access to partnerships, activations, WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando and its brand building, media training, communications, live event promotion, creative writing and community relations resources. Following the program’s run, each member of the group will be eligible to receive a WWE contract.
