Stephen Curry is the next superstar athlete diving into the spirits industry.

According to Robb Report, Curry will release a straight bourbon called Gentleman’s Cut Game Changer. For approval, Boone County Distilling submitted its application to the Alcohol Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB).

As of now, it is not clear when the product will be released or its pricing.

What we do know is that the bourbon is described as “polished and smooth” and has been distilled for at least five years. In addition, it is made up of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley and customers should expect to taste hints of honey, rich caramel, and vanilla bean.

Curry’s involvement is seen in a statement written on the back label, of an Instagram post shared by Boone County Distilling Company.

“I’ve learned over the years that life is best enjoyed in the close company of others. It’s those moments of celebrating a milestone, enjoying endless laughter into the evening, or simply an unpredictable night of carrying on that makes for a memory you can always reflect on. I’ve long found that these unforgettable evenings are often best enjoyed with a rich and nuanced bourbon in hand, which is why I’m proud to have helped carefully craft a new signature Kentucky Straight Bourbon,” said Curry.

Curry joins other athletes who are making their presence known within the sector. As AfroTech previously told you, LeBron James is an investor in Lobos 1707 Tequila, James Harden has his own wine collection self titled J-HARDEN, and CJ McCollum is making a splash through McCollum Heritage 91 to make the space more accessible.

“Growing up, I wasn’t exposed to what goes into making wine, or what goes into drinking wine,” McCollum told Food & Wine. “As a Black man who is now in the wine world,  I would encourage more Black men and women, and minorities in general, to learn more about wine and be open to exploring it.”
