Following Offset’s filed lawsuit against Quality Control, there’s reportedly been a new update.

As previously reported by AfroTech, the rapper claimed that the record label has refused to honor his deal as a solo act.

What’s more, he demanded that the court declare that Quality Control does not own anything he has made as a solo artist since Jan. 15, 2021, as well as anything pertaining to his future as a solo artist.

Offset claimed that he negotiated a deal to go solo from Migos by paying up.

“I paid millions to get my rights back,” Offset shared on Twitter in August 2022.

He continued: “You black balled me … I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?”

Now, it appears that the claims on social media may have potentially caused damage to his case as Quality Control has reportedly responded to Offset’s lawsuit.

It is said that the label has requested for his lawsuit to be dismissed due to him breaching the “confidentiality provision” in their original settlement agreement, according to documents allegedly obtained by RadarOnline.

Due to being vocal on social media, Quality Control reportedly claims Offset disclosed “the terms of the Settlement Agreement in the Complaint and in social media posts, and by sharing the Settlement Agreement…”

“Having continued to accept the benefits of working directly with Capitol (after Defendant assigned to Offset its rights under the Offset/Capital Agreement) in connection with the production of recordings as works for hire, and because, under the Label Deal Agreement, as amended, 100 percent of the copyright rights in recordings made by Offset as works for hire for Capitol are automatically assigned by Capitol to Quality Control, Plaintiffs are estopped from taking the position in this action that they are the owner of such recordings, rather than Capitol or its assignee, Quality Control,” Quality Control reportedly said.

In Offset’s lawsuit, he also said his solo single “54321” produced by Baby Keem, was incorrectly claimed as a product of Quality Control — which he believed to be “hostile” — per TMZ.

Quality Control allegedly doubled down on having Offset’s case thrown out with their argument.

“Because Offset is not the owner of recordings he has made or continues to make with Motown on or after January 15, 2021, including the recordings “54321” and “Code”, [Offset] lack standing to bring this action,” Quality Control said, according to reports.
