The Internet was taken by storm with the release of the official trailer for “Creed III.”

To celebrate the upcoming release, set for March 3, 2023, Michael B. Jordan visited HBCUs to join him as he waits in anticipation of its release.

Movie theaters were booked out for students at Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Spelman College to get a first look at the upcoming film, which is Jordan’s directorial debut.

The actor’s big surprise, including tickets to the premiere, also came along with financial support.

During his visits, Jordan announced that he was giving money to a few students.

“I know how tough it is to be a young creative, so I’m going to pull a couple of names and I’m going to give $3,000 to your education,” he said.

The news came in as a big relief for one of the lucky students.

“This pays all of my student debt,” a Spelman College student excitedly shared.

Ahead of his surprise visit, Jordan explained why it was important for him to involve the HBCU students in the rollout of “Creed III.”

“A lot of things that are going on in this movie I feel like would help them have some clarity and relate to sometimes tough decisions that you have to go through as you become an adult,” Jordan expressed during a press conference. “Just understanding what the HBCU culture does to incubate Black excellence. And how it’s nurtured, grown and developed, it’s a pivotal time for these students of who they were going into college, who they’re becoming and who they will be when they leave and go off into the world.”

Jordan’s dedication to HBCUs extends past his recent visit. Back in 2021, he was behind creating Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic — a college basketball showcase — as previously reported by AfroTech. In addition to showcasing HBCU culture, Jordan partnered with MaC Venture Capital and Serena Ventures to award $1 million to an HBCU startup founder.
