Building an empire from the ground up is a challenge without tenacity. However, Kay Lynn was hungry for success.

Lynn is the founder of Kerri Alston Hair Co, a luxury hair extension business and online teaching platform.

Launched in 2019, the brand has become a great success in the hair industry.

“Kay turned her boutique beauty brand into a seven-figure business and has transitioned from behind the chair focusing her efforts now on teaching beauty professionals how to do the same,” Kerri Alston Hair Co’s website wrote.

During an interview on The Girl CEO podcast, Lynn gave a look into how her company transformed and eventually began raking in seven figures.

Recalling the time when she was a single mother of two on the hunt for a job, Lynn shared that she was determined to find sustainability. With over a decade of hair styling experience, she decided to tap into a space that wasn’t popping off yet.

“I came across luxury hair extensions but I didn’t have any clientele whatsoever,” the hair extension specialist told host Ronne Brown. “Zero. Like, I had fallen off completely. Nobody calling my phone…Zero dollars, zero clients.”

Lynn used her situation as fuel to lock in and focus on transforming her brand. After hitting the ground running during the COVID-19 quarantine, Kerri Alston Hair Co took off. She also shared that during the pandemic, her brand had made $10,000 just in one day.

After reaching success, Lynn’s mission was to help fellow stylists learn about so many different ways to tap into the billion-dollar industry.

“We don’t just sell hair. We do hair. We educate,” she explained during the podcast. “We supply hair to stylists all over the U.S. We do ship overseas as well. Ultimately, I have focused my day-to-day on educating…I was like, ‘I have to tell somebody about this.’ This [level of success] for me was something that I could have never foreseen for myself.”
