LeBron James has officially made history as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, but the threads he wore could prove to be pretty historic, too.

The Historic Garment

According to TMZ Sports, an auction expert suggests that the jersey the NBA superstar wore during Tuesday night’s (Feb. 7) game could bring in more than $3 million if it were to ever be put on the market.

“To be able to be in the presence of such a legend and great as Kareem means so much to me; it’s very humbling,” said James of the historic game, according to Forbes. “I would never ever in a million years dreamt this even better than what it is tonight.”

Previous Auction Wins

As previously reported by AfroTech, James’ 2013 Miami Heat jersey worn during the finals went for a record-breaking $3.7 million during an auction led by Sotheby’s.

“I believe this jersey is just as historic and desirable, if not more so,” said Chris Ivy, Director of Sports Auctions at Heritage Auctions. “So I would estimate it at more than $3 million.”

Power Plays

While there is no telling when or if the sports icon would ever let anyone else get a hold of the jersey for the right price, James has always been strategic about his business endeavors both on and off the court.

As the league’s first active player to become a billionaire, James’ portfolio includes his production powerhouse, The SpringHill Company, several investments, real estate, and endorsements.
