Another pro athlete has joined Naomi Osaka to promote Sweetgreen’s message for healthy eating.

As previously reported by AfroTech, in 2021 the tennis star became the fast-food salad chain’s first athlete ambassador, as well as its youngest investor. Now, according to a press release, Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker is next up to be in the Sweetgreen family as an ambassador.

“I started working with sweetgreen because I connected with their mission and was already a regular customer,” said Osaka, according to the press release. “Joining forces with a brand that is creating a positive change in the world is really important to me. Tapping Devin and bringing him into the mix makes it even better.”

Sweetgreen's New Ambassador

Since the partnership formed between Osaka and Sweetgreen, the two have been working to redefine traditional fast-food sponsorships. With Booker being a new addition to the team, he will play his own role in spreading the mission across.

“We introduced a powerful shift in the food industry with Naomi last year and we brainstormed together about who else to bring on this journey. We wanted an athlete that spoke to the importance of healthy living and Devin was a natural fit,” said Chief Brand Officer Nathaniel Ru.

National Campaign

Kicking off being a new partner for the restaurant’s Future of Healthy Food, Booker will be a part of “Create Your Own,” its new campaign about the ease at hand for customers to create a custom bowl “without sacrificing dietary preference or taste — which launched on May 2 and will run through June 5.

“As an athlete, I’m always aware of what I’m putting into my body,” said Booker. “I know what ingredients make me feel my best, so when I order my go-to bowl at sweetgreen, I am confident that every ingredient is going to help fuel my day, on and off the court.”

Both Osaka and Booker have their own custom bowls that will be available for purchase at Sweetgreen.
