This Black-owned construction company is doing it big for the culture.

Made up of four generations of Black men, Choates G Contracting now has seven new multi-million dollar contracts underneath its belt, according to Blacknews.com.

The company — headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — was launched by Mr. Darrell Choates Sr., who has over four decades of experience in the construction industry. He has played a massive role in ensuring that the company remains within the family and continues to operate as a robust minority-managed organization throughout the years.

Building A Legacy

Choates G Contracting is currently owned by Darrell K. Choates, Sr., his father, son, and grandson.

Not only is the construction firm securing a strong legacy for the family, but Mr. Choates is also on a mission to do work that uplifts and inspires his community. The company currently manages several large-scale development projects, which include constructing senior living residences and providing technologically advanced SaaS platforms that create Smart Cities.

And, construction isn’t the only business that Mr. Choates leads. He is also the owner of Logan Community Enterprise Center, a registered nonprofit community organization immersed in various activities that support the community including bi-weekly food drives.

The Choates Family Companies has also expanded with a goal of helping the sick and elderly through their very own Personal Care Home C&G along with launching a telemedicine platform, Heartbeat Health Care, in the midst of the pandemic.

Securing Multi-Million Dollar Contracts

As the company continues to expand its horizons, one thing that remains is its commitment to operating as a Minority Business Enterprise.

Among the seven contracts that the company just secured is a $30 million construction project at JFK Airport’s Terminal 1 located in New York City as well as a $25 million construction project located in Ghana.
