Atlanta continues to have its eyes set on being one of the biggest hotspots for breaking into tech.
According to a press release shared with AfroTech, the city will be opening the Atlanta Blockchain Center (ABC) — its first blockchain startup incubator.
Atlanta Blockchain Center
Opening this month in Buckhead, the headquarters — founded by serial tech entrepreneur Marlon Williams — will welcome anyone interested in learning more about blockchain technology. Fully funded and operated by Starter Labs, ABC is set to feature a coworking space and training center, per the press release.
“I was in the middle of the crypto investment boom in Miami and saw firsthand the impact it had on the local economy,” Williams said in a statement. “I want to introduce that same model here in Atlanta to help young and aspiring entrepreneurs build the next Big Five in tech on the blockchain.”
Movement Toward Black Economic Empowerment
With the upcoming kickoff, the mission is “to bring more jobs to the local economy through the projects they incubate,” as well as to strengthen the community as Atlanta’s tech scene keeps growing exponentially.
“Atlanta is a critical city to capitalize on the growth in capital and resources of cryptocurrency,” Michael Terpin, Founder and CEO of Transform Ventures said. “With the addition of this Center, Atlanta has the potential to become one of the nation’s leading innovation hubs and an epicenter of blockchain innovation. I look forward to advising the Center and its incubated projects.”
In innovation, collaboration is key. Along with expanding their knowledge of crypto, members of the ABC community will gain the opportunity of exclusive training and networking opportunities, be eligible for mentorship and funding from Starter Labs to launch their projects, access to the new Atlanta Chapter of BitAngels — the world’s first angel investment group for blockchain projects — and more, the press release details.
The Kick Off
On June 13, Mayor of Atlanta Andre Dickens will kick off the ribbon cutting for the Atlanta Blockchain Center’s grand opening.
