Amazon Prime Members now have access to health care thanks to a new initiative led by the e-commerce giant.
According to the retailer’s website, Prime members will have access to care from One Medical, which includes 24/7 on-demand virtual care nationwide as well as office visits at any of One Medical’s locations across the nation.
“The new One Medical benefit gives Prime members access to high-quality primary care and 24/7 on-demand virtual care for only $9 a month or $99 a year—up to $100 savings [off the standard One Medical membership fee],” Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime, said. “This new benefit is the latest example of how we’re making it easier for Prime members to take care of their health.”
He continued, “Prime members also have exclusive access to benefits from Amazon Pharmacy, including RxPass, which lets members get as many eligible medications as they need for one flat fee of $5 per month and have them delivered free to their doors in two days or less, and Prime Rx, which helps members save up to 80 percent on prescriptions when not using insurance at Amazon Pharmacy and over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide.”
One Medical, a company Amazon acquired in 2022, has been using the power of technology to provide people with access to care to cover a variety of circumstances, including everything from preventative care to immediate health concerns, as well as managing chronic diseases such as diabetes.
“When it is easier for people to get the care they need, they engage more in their health, and realize better health outcomes,” Neil Lindsay, senior vice president of Amazon Health Services, said. “That’s why we are bringing One Medical’s exceptional experience to Prime members—it’s health care that makes it dramatically easier to get and stay healthy.”
The new membership on the platform covers unlimited access to on-demand virtual care around the clock, which includes video chats with licensed providers within minutes, according to the report.
Additionally, the app’s “Treat Me Now” feature helps users get fast care for common issues such as allergies, cold and flu, skin issues, urinary tract infections, and more.
