Lewis Hamilton and his co-founder are disrupting the spirits industry. On Oct. 25, 2023, the Formula 1 champion joined Casa Lumbre Co-Founder Iván Saldaña to debut Almave, the first-ever distilled non-alcoholic blue agave spirit in the world, according to a press release.

As a tequila fan, Hamilton wanted to provide a product with its taste but that doesn’t hinder those with a hectic schedule similar to his. He says the collaboration with Saldaña has been in the making for a while.

“I’m excited to introduce people to Almave – it’s a project I’ve been working on for a long time with Casa Lumbre,” Hamilton said in a statement. “There’s a huge appetite for quality alternatives for those times when people don’t want to drink alcohol but also don’t want to compromise on flavour, which is why it was important that our product includes agave to reflect the taste of conventional tequila. I think it tastes amazing, and what we have created is unlike anything else on the market, so I can’t wait to see what you all think.”

Almave products include Almave Ámbar Distilled Non-Alcoholic Blue Agave Spirit, which was created for drinking, and Almave Blanco Distilled Non-Alcoholic Blue Agave Spirit for mixed cocktails, the press release details. Although Almave is non-alcoholic and not fermented like tequila, it is said to be “made from the same raw materials in the same part of Mexico.”

“While Almave Distilled Non-Alcoholic Blue Agave Spirit is not a tequila, we are immensely proud of how we are leading the non-alcoholic category in staying true to the production and craft of making tequila, specifically the use of real agave and distillation,” Saldaña said. “While there are faster ways, we could not imagine a worthwhile non-alcoholic spirit without it. So, using our deep knowledge and spirit of discovery, we created Almave Blue Agave Spirit.”

Almave will launch on Oct. 26, 2023, and will be available for purchase on the company’s website. In 2024, the non-alcoholic spirit is set to roll out to retailers and bars across the U.S. as well as in select international regions.
