Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma is the first NBA player to partner with GOAT—an online sneaker marketplace—as its Brand Ambassador on and off the court.

This marks the first time an athlete has signed an endorsement deal with a sneaker reselling platform. The partnership comes after the NBA’s lift on restricting shoe colors allowing players to have the creative freedom to wear the sneakers of their choice.

GOAT will provide Kuzma with exclusive and highly-coveted Nike sneakers.

“GOAT has inspired me to start collecting more seriously and build my style around sneakers,” said Kyle Kuzma in a news release. “People assume that, as an NBA athlete, you can get access to any kind of sneaker you want. When in reality, it’s hard to get the exclusive releases or shoes from the past, and feel confident they’re authentic. GOAT gives me a second chance at not only the limited releases I missed but also the shoes I wasn’t able to afford growing up.”

Founded in 2015, GOAT provides the largest marketplace for sneakers available for buying and selling through their mobile app. The platform offers users an authentication service and buyer protection, making it the safe way to discover, buy or sell rare and authentic sneakers.

“GOAT has always celebrated great athletes,” said Eddy Lu, co-founder, and CEO of GOAT. “Kuzma is emblematic of the passion, focus, and determination that reflect what it means to be great.”
