Kevin Durant has teamed up with some of the biggest producers for a special collaboration.
The Brooklyn Nets star is known for his skills on the court, but there’s another passion of his that he’s stepped into — music.
Boardroom reports that Durant joined Boi-1da, Cardo, and 9th Wonder for the Nike KD15 “Producer Pack.”
For his 15th signature sneaker with Nike, Durant wanted to take a new approach. When he isn’t playing ball, he’s locked in at the studio.
“Just like these artists got basketball courts in their house, I’ve got a studio in mine,” he told the outlet.
He continued: “Once you get in there and try to understand the process? You respect the artist even more. I’m working on some music, just having fun. It’s a hobby.”
Durant’s inspiration led him to bring Boi-1da, Cardo, and 9th Wonder onboard for his launch. The producers — who are also KD’s friends — have worked with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and more.
“Once I came up with the idea? Those were the first three that came to mind,” Durant said, according to Boardroom. “We’ve all sat and had conversations about sneakers and hoops before.”
“You come to the conclusion that you can relate to [artists] more than anyone when it comes to working on a craft every day,” he added.

What links Durant to the featured producers is that they thrive on versatility, just like him.
“These guys have platinum records and have made songs with underground artists and the biggest in the world,” he told Boardroom. “You could say our careers mirror each other. I try to be versatile on the court and they try to do the same thing with music.”
Per Durant, he will be wearing the sneakers during the 2022-23 season, as well as one can expect the three producers to represent courtside.
He hopes to make the producer pack into a franchise within his shoe line.
