Idris and Sabrina Elba are a couple that balance the power of both loving and working hard together.

In 2021, the Elbas signed a deal with Crunchyroll to executive produce an Afro-futuristic sci-fi animated series, as previously reported by AfroTech.

The two entrepreneurs are now back with another business venture aiming to uplift spirits within the community.

According to Vogue, the Elbas announced the upcoming launch of their new brand, S’Able Labs — a genderless skincare line targeted toward people of color.

Its name plays on the lovebirds’ surname being spelled backward as “Sable.” Although the name was thought of by Idris, the idea for the wellness brand was sparked through one of their conversations regarding self-care during the heavy impact on social life due to the pandemic.

“We realized quickly that there was no one doing it in the wellness space that looked like, spoke like or felt like us—there was no representation for people of color who wanted to be into wellness and fit in,” Sabrina said, according to Vogue. “Plus everything was gender-focused—I’d have conversations with my husband on products he didn’t think he could use [due to them being aimed at women], but could.”

S'Able Labs' Target Audience

The Elbas plan for their skin care products to “be affordable but luxury, and address concerns, from hyperpigmentation to inflammation, that so many people face.” Ultimately, the community-based skin care line wants to widen access to wellness as everyone not only needs it, but more importantly deserves it.

“When you are happier, doing good just comes naturally,” she said. “That’s why self-care is such an important thing in partnerships and relationships—when you’re feeling really good about yourself, you’re able to share that with other people and it’s infectious. I feel like we’ve forgotten about that because we’ve been so isolated. We want to remind people to share that good energy.”

The Launch Date

While no exact date has been revealed, S’Able Labs is set to launch in summer 2022.
