When in talks about summer song contenders for 2022, GloRilla and Hitkidd’s “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” enters into the conversation. 

Since the hit’s release in April, life has truly been on go-mode for 22-year-old rapper GloRilla. The way the record took off — going from social media to around the world — led to GloRilla becoming signed to fellow Memphis native Yo Gotti’s CMG imprint only about three months after her single dropped, which has over 33 million views on YouTube (as of this writing).

“It’s one of the quickest rises that I’ve seen in my career, because she only dropped in late April and now she has the hottest cultural records in music,” he declared, according to Billboard. “She has a different sound and approach that’s needed in hip-hop right now.”

In such a short span of time, she is playing her own role in putting her city — especially its aspiring female rappers — on the map.

“It’s sometimes still unreal because this is what I always dreamed about and hoped would be happening to me,” GloRilla said about her rise to stardom. “And it’s happening right now.”

GloRilla’s first stage name was "Big Glo"

Born Gloria Woods, the idea of “Big Glo” initially came to mind. But one of her cousins came up with “GloRilla” instead, being that she was “wild and crazy” growing up.

GloRilla started her career by initially wanting to be a singer

During her interview with the YouTube channel Chillin With Tyrique, she shared that she used to sing in church, but started her rapping career after losing her voice.

Once Hitkidd hit her up about the beat, GloRilla went to lock in at the studio. She laid her bars over it in a half hour, according to Billboard.

The two Memphis musicians have linked up for a collaborative EP “Set The Tone,” which dropped in 2021. The four-track project also features Gloss Up, K Carbon, Aleza, and Slimeroni.

A fun fact within a fun fact: The producer told Billboard that “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” was originally for Megan Thee Stallion.
