Elaine Welteroth is more than a triple threat. She has stacked up an impressive work portfolio, which includes becoming a New York Times best-selling author, serving as a judge on Bravo’s hit show “Project Runway” and also as the former editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue.
On top of her impressive arsenal of business ventures, Welteroth is intentional about using her platform to help others. During her time at Teen Vogue, diversity and social justice were pushed to the forefront of the outlet’s coverage, and she also created the 15 Percent Pledge encouraging major retailers to commit 15 percent of their buying power to funding Black-owned businesses.
Now, Elaine Welteroth is continuing her commitment to help the BIPOC community in a new arena by partnering with investment platform Public, which AfroTech previously told you has an online community bolstering one million users with a demographic of 40 percent women and 45 percent BIPOC. The partnership will lead the future generation forward by providing access to financial opportunities and educational resources designed to help investors navigate the financial market responsibly. Welteroth will also have a long time standing with Public as an equity holder to honor their shared commitment to helping BIPOC generate wealth for the long term.
“I’m excited to partner with Public.com to help make investing more approachable for the next generation of investors,” Welteroth said in a post via Medium. “I’ve always pushed for more inclusivity and diversity throughout my career, whether during my time at the helm of Teen Vogue, through my work in television on Project Runway and The Talk, or in my philanthropic work. Now, I couldn’t be more excited about helping open up doors to young BIPOC people in the investing world to help them take ownership of their future.”
As the business mogul makes her grand introduction into the Public space today, she will provide her perspectives on wealth creation and encourage financial discourse within the community. And fans are in for a treat when they decide to launch their financial portfolio with Public using the code “ELAINE.” Not only will they be able to enjoy $50 of free stocks, but they will also be able to enjoy the launch of #GivingTuesday on Public Live, where Welteroth will give insight into her entrepreneurial journey, her push toward inclusivity at Teen Vogue, how to get BIPOC within the younger generation to tap into investment markets and more.
