Drake hasn’t ceased to pump out hits since his debut into the music industry. His music is everywhere, which is why one of his latest milestones shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Variety reports that the rapper has become Shazam’s all-time most searched artist.
Falling on the music platform’s 20th birthday, it announced that Drake has a record of 350 million Shazams. Among his long-running discography, “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla has the most searches at more than 17 million.
While Drake took the top spot for artists, Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” came in as the most Shazamed song using “2580” — the app’s first version of its tool that used SMS messages to identify songs. Additionally, “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton was the most searched song for Hip-Hop/Rap and “All of Me” by John Legend for R&B/soul.
Drake’s Shazam feat comes on the heels of becoming the artist with the most top five hits in Billboard Hot 100 history, with 30, according to Billboard. He beat out The Beatles, who have 29, thanks to DJ Khaled’s “Staying Alive” featuring himself and Lil Baby, which made his “I got more slaps than The Beatles” line a reality. The DJ Khaled track debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s latest, Aug. 20-dated chart.
In light of making history, Drake shared his response, which included one of his other passions outside of music.
“Ok I broke my records for the month now me and @stake need you to do your thing Bitcoin,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
As previously reported by AfroTech, he has been a fan of placing bets using the online gambling company. He has received multiple payouts in Bitcoin including a $1.25 million bet that the Los Angeles Rams would win the Super Bowl, which also included his close friend and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. scoring a touchdown.
Plus, he partnered with Stake earlier this year to share his wins with others.
