Bronny James is keeping the momentum going with cashing in on his likeness.
After team T-shirts sporting the University of Southern California (USC) Trojans star’s name instantly sold out at Nike in September 2023, the sportswear giant released his replica jersey to retail, according to Boardroom.
The expansion of James’ partnership with Nike makes him one of the first college basketball athletes to launch a name, image, and likeness (NIL) jersey. The outlet notes that James’ NIL jersey, with options for home and away, is priced at $90 and is available for purchase at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Landing a NIL jersey is yet another step for James under his Nike sponsorship. The 19-year-old joined the company’s roster in October 2022, as previously reported by AFROTECH.
“For as long as I can remember, Nike’s been a part of my family,” James shared in a statement at the time. “Getting a chance to team up with them and continue my family’s legacy, both on the court and in the community, is wild — it really means a lot to me.”
Since signing on with Nike, James has been winning ever since. In March 2023, On3 reported his ranking as the nation’s top NIL earner with an estimated $7.2 million valuation, as previously shared by AFROTECH. Performance, influence, and exposure are taken into consideration for its NIL valuations.
As of this writing, he remains at the top of On3’s NIL 100 list at $5.9 million. His NIL deals include Nike, Beats by Dre, PSD Underwear, and more.
Per its website, On3 explained that its index’s algorithm doesn’t track the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date. In addition, it doesn’t present an athlete’s NIL valuation for their entire career.
“The On3 NIL Valuation calculates the optimized NIL opportunity for athletes relative to the overall NIL market and projects out to as long as 12 months into the future,” the website states.
