Marketing guru Bozoma Saint John will host and produce a new documentary series for Starz titled Bozoma: Being Badass.
The series will follow Saint John—currently chief marketing officer of global media conglomerate Endeavor—through her personal and career journey and will include interviews related to the theme of each episode.
Saint John, formerly an Uber executive who left the company earlier this year, told Fast Company that one of the messages of the series is “to show up wholly as ourselves.”
“I’ve had a lot of great feedback from different types of people who have said they appreciate that I’m able to be exactly who I am in all these spaces, even if I’m the one and only,” she said.
The series will tackle her experience losing her husband to cancer and address the challenges of being a single, working mom. She’ll also discuss her passion for fashion as being an essential part of her professional story.
“The fact that I’m able to show up in sequins on Tuesday–people have a lot of questions about that,” she said. “I want to explore the non-boundaries of what it means to look like a corporate executive in a way that is not traditional.”
Alex Lowry of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown will executive produce with Saint John.
“There is so much more to Bozoma than what you have read in the headlines,” said Chris Albrecht, president, and CEO of Starz. “Boz is an incredibly dynamic woman with an undeniable spirit that she infuses into every aspect of her life. She brings a wholly new perspective to television.”
The series is slated to begin filming in early 2019.
