5 Black Podcasts You Should Be Listening to Right Now

Tired of scrolling through Instagram or Facebook out of boredom? Well try something different and tune into a podcast. We’ve compiled a list of podcasts that are sure to spark your interest. From thought-provoking discussions to the latest gossip, there’s a podcast for just about any topic. Here are five Black-hosted podcasts you should be listening to:

Adult-ish

Hosted by Afiya Augustine and Vincent Bernard, Adult-ish is a podcast for those millennials who feel they can’t get this adulting thing right. Augustine’s life was in shambles. While quitting her job and going through a failing marriage, she felt the sting of what it means to be an adult. After a conversation with her now executive producer, Augustine decided others like her could relate to her struggles and Adult-ish podcast was born. The podcast features episodes like “How Do We Approach Sexuality Like an Adult-ish” and “Adult-ish Apologies — How to Say ‘I’m Sorry’ Like an Adult and Mean It.”

The Read

This is one of my favs. The Read is hilarious and informative at the same time. Hosted by Kid Fury and Crissle, The Read is a podcast you will revisit time and time again. They throw shade, spill tea, stan Beyonce, and give you food for thought that will challenge your perspectives. If you’re a new listener no need to start at episode one just jump in wherever and you’ll be hooked. *Warning* you’ll most like go on a binge, so be sure to set an alarm if you have important stuff to do.

Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations

Hosted by Oprah. Enough said. Super Soul Sunday will change your life or at least give you an epiphany. The podcast features interviews with Michelle Obama, Iyanla Vanzant, T.D. Jakes, and more. It’s like the Oprah Winfrey Show 2.0.

2 Dope Queens

If you need a good laugh the 2 Dope Queens podcast is your go-to. Hosted by Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, the podcast talks about living in New York,  sex, romance, race, and hair.  When they’re not in podcast mode, the two Brooklyn-based “Queens” can be found hosting live comedy shows.

Blacker than BlackTimes Infinity

Black geeks unite! The Blacker Than Black Times Infinity podcast talks about the latest games, comics, and Anime. Hosted by Cthulhu’s Prodigy, Blue, Kr0nus, Old Ninja, and Stitch, this podcast is a Black geek utopia.
