Our relationship with artificial intelligence (AI) technology has the power to transform human interaction and this professional wants us to use it to our advantage.
Tanneasha Gordon has had a first-hand look at how AI has come in to change our relationship with technology as well as how markets and businesses operate at scale. With more than 17 years of advising on privacy, she leads the charge at Deloitte US Data & Digital Trust by building durable ad privacy and compliance solutions along with advising content compliance, data governance, and security.
As a go-to leader in times of crisis, Gordon has no issue with the ever-evolving landscape of technology. She helps to direct companies with developing remediation strategies, interpreting requirements, assessing readiness, and a host of other qualities needed to push the needle forward in the space.
“As we move from simple AI systems to complex foundational models and usher in AGI – understanding how this technology can benefit our community as well harm us further is imperative,” Gordon told AFROTECH. “These systems and models are only effective with the availability, access, and use of high-quality data, including personal data. As a privacy, safety, and product compliance leader, this topic is of critical importance.”
During the 2024 AFROTECH Conference set to take place this fall in Houston, Texas, Gordon will lead a conversation, “Protecting Your Reality and Privacy: Navigating AI Risks to Build Trusted Products,” which will give attendees a glimpse at what to look out for to make sure that their information is protected and safeguarded.

“I want to ensure that advancements in AI don’t perpetuate existing biases or create new forms of discrimination and infringe upon our rights as humans,” said Gordon. “It’s important to have inclusive technical guardrails, controls, and policies that safeguard the privacy rights and keep users safe, especially those from underrepresented groups.”
Designed with privacy leaders, product and risk managers, and other security professionals in mind, this conversation will help Gordon relay one of her go-to pieces of advice, “Trust after you verify.” Additionally, she wants those who are preparing to attend the session to come with knowledge of the privacy statement of their favorite application or product. She also recommends taking a second to get familiar with the way AI-technology-led systems like ChatGPT and Gemini operate for the full experience.
“My purpose is to help people and companies self-actualize and express their truest self in ways that push humanity forward,” said Gordon.
She isn’t the only expert who will be taking the stage to give the rundown on AI and how to use it to our advantage. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to hear from various leaders in the space.
