Amoako Boafo has work that is out of this world…literally. CBS News reports that Ghanaian artist, Amoako Boafo, can now celebrate the official launch of his artwork in outer space. That’s right, the artists’ had three paintings that went into orbit on the most recent space mission launched by billionaire Jeff Bezos. After a successful launch into space for the Amazon founder a month ago, Blue Origin officially sent off suborbital spacecraft, New Shepard, on Thursday, Aug. 26. The spacecraft was not only equipped with Boafo’s artwork, but also included NASA lunar landing technology along with 18 additional research payloads.

To combat this, Ghanaian-based company Jetstream is proposing its own solution. Ghana has just announced that it’s launching a new digital currency called the e-cedi. But this isn’t like your typical cryptocurrency — this is actually something quite different. According to Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the country’s central bank, the new proposed digital currency will go into effect after three pilot stages confirm it to be a positive thing to introduce into the local economy. “The Bank of Ghana was one of the first African Central Banks to declare that we were working on a digital currency looking at the concept of an e-cedi,” Dr. Addison said at a news conference in Accra. Currently, the e-cedi has completed the first phase of the process where the design has been made and finalized by a centralized committee. Right now, the digital currency is in a limited implementation phase, meaning that some online transactions will accept the digital currency if it’s applied to the payment. Black News is reporting that Swatson, a native of Ghana, has become the country’s youngest female pilot at the young age of 21. Swatson is a First Officer with Passion Air in Ghana, operating the Dash 8 Q-400 aircraft. Swatson is also the CEO of her own company, Excel Aviation, which aims to help other aspiring female pilots in Ghana, like her. Audrey Esi Swatson was first inspired to become a pilot at the age of 18. Against all odds, she reported for training at the Mach1 Aviation Academy in South Africa.
