NAACP Acquires Ownership Stake In Hello Alice To Empower Black Entrepreneurs

The NAACP has sealed a partnership with Hello Alice, and it’s a pinnacle moment for Black entrepreneurs. Yolanda Perkins Received a Grant From Beyoncé to Take Her Kid's Underwear Line to the Next Level

The Beyoncé Effect is definitely real. From college lectures to pop culture references, The Queen Bee’s effect on the pop culture zeitgeist cannot be denied. But for Yolanda Perkins, the “Black is King” goddess provided her something else: a chance at a real life. She was one of the recipients of the NAACP and BeyGood Impact Award, which allowed her to raise startup funding for Undies by BlendiTone, her children’s underwear line. Perkins got the idea to create the underwear line after a shopping trip with her then-six-year-old daughter. Beyoncé's BEYGOOD and the NAACP Award $10K Grant to Black-Owned Cannabis Company

Beyoncé’s nonprofit organization BEYGOOD and the NAACP partnered this summer to launch their ow n Black-Owned Small Business Impact Fund. Now after over 17,000 entrepreneurs have applied for the grant program, one lucky business has announced themselves as one of the recipients. In an announcement via Instagram, The Gift — a natural health and wellness company that was founded in 2018 — received a grant value of $10,000 from BEYGOOD and the NAACP’s joint venture. Former McDonald's Employee Opens First Black-Owned Vegan Restaurant in Harrisburg, PA

The first Black-owned vegan restaurant is now open in Harrisburg, PA, according to VegNews . Co-owned by Laquana Barber and Stefan Hawkins, House of Vegans was inspired by three main things: the lack of food options in their area, Barber’s health issues, and Hawkins inside look at the meat industry during his time as a McDonald’s employee. “American culture views that every meal has to have meat with it when it does not,” Hawkins told The Burg News . “Since I’ve been vegan, it’s been the best part of my life.” Dubbed the Home of Thee Slaps, the vegan eatery opened in July 2020 as some other small Black-owned businesses struggled financially due to the pandemic.
