After completing school, passing the NCLEX-RN exam and obtaining a nursing license, the process to become a nurse isn't complete. Like all job application processes, there are interviews.
Interviews often include standard questions, but nursing positions come with their own unique challenges. To help you feel confident and prepared, we've gathered some of the most common ones you might face.
What skills did you gain during your clinical rotations?
How would you handle a situation where a patient or family member was unhappy with your care?
How do you explain medications, treatments or situations without using a lot of medical or healthcare jargon?
Describe a time a patient was really happy with your care or a time you went above and beyond for a patient?
Share a time you disagreed with a decision made by a provider. How did you respond, and what was the result?
Was there ever a time when something in your patient care needed to be changed? What did you do?
How do you handle conflicts within your healthcare team?
What are your weaknesses and how do you address them?
How do you prioritize care when handling multiple patients?
