Tools To Help You Cope With Work-Related Stress

By keely aouga

No matter how much one loves their job, stress is sure to be a part of the process. From physical labor to disorganization, your body and mind can become exhausted without proper care.

Most people spend up to 40 hours working a week, making it important for you to find tools to cope with stress.

Here is a list of strategies to help you handle being overwhelmed and get you through your day-to-day.

Track Your Stressors

Dedicate time to identify which situations create the most stress and how you respond to them. Think about how you felt and identify which responses helped the most.

Recharge

Find time to do something you love and recharge. That can look different for everyone. Most importantly, don't be afraid to use your vacation days and take time to "switch-off" from work.

Time Management

Sometimes feeling stressed is related to a lack of organization. Write a to-do list and visualize what needs to be a priority, so that you don't fall behind.

Have A Support System

Don't be afraid to lean into your community. Accept help from your friends and family members. And if necessary, reach out to a psychologist as well.

Exercise

Many studies have found that exercise reduces stress. Engage in physical activity, go on a walk and breathe fresh air, or try something new like yoga.

Avoid Conflict

Stay out of workplace conflicts. Walk away when people are gossiping and steer clear of drama as much as possible.

Communicate

Meet with your supervisor if you believe that they will create a safe space. Approach the conversation from a place of solving the problem, rather than listing complaints.
