Steve Harvey’s latest profile picture has folks buzzing on his stance in the non-fungible token (NFT) space.

Yesterday (Sept. 8) the comedian swapped out his former profile photo for a Solana Monkey Business NFT which has been picked up quite frequently in the past few weeks. The NFT images in question include 5,000 cartoonish, pixelated monkeys that are generated randomly.

As one of the most popular cryptocurrencies, Solana continues to climb to the top with a value in price that started at $37 last month and is now up to $197 as of yesterday, reports Decrypt.

The surge in value is accredited to recent drops on the Solana platform which include Aurory and Degenerate Ape Academy. In the last week, NFT collectibles on Solana have raked in $94 million in trades. Solana Monkey Business is currently at a seven-day volume mark of $6.2 million which makes it the latest best thing for the platform.

An NFT provides ownership of almost every type of digital item and now profile picture collections are on the rise in the space. Aside from Solana, other competitors in the place are Bored Ape, CryptoPunks, and Yacht Club. One of the most active platforms for the NFT collectibles is Ethereum (where Bored Apes and CryptoPunks are housed).

Harvey isn’t the only celebrity putting their support behind the NFT industry by way of profile photos — rapper, and YouTube personality KSI also changed his Twitter avatar to a Solana Monkey Business icon (AfroTech also previously reported, NBA star Stephen Curry also recently changed his Twitter aviator to Bored Ape #7990’s digital artwork).

While the “Family Feud” host did not speak out on his decision to change his profile photo yesterday, he’s already made his mark in the NFT space in the past. In May, he joined forces with Rarible, another NFT marketplace to sell some of his own NFTs in order to give back through his nonprofit, Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation. He also shared that he has stakes in both Bitcoin and Ethereum, two of the leading spaces in cryptocurrencies.

Could it only be a matter of time before everyone else gets on board to fill Twitter with Solana Monkey Business images?
