Media entrepreneur Sheila Eldridge is using her platform to push the voices of Black and brown women to the front.

Mocha Podcasts Network (MPN) showcases Black and brown women through conversations “from a Black perspective” and is dedicated to allowing their voices to lead the way.

“A platform like MPN is so important and relevant to our community,” shared Eldridge during an interview with Black Enterprise. “We know that historically Black businesses often don’t receive the advertising resources and campaigns that other companies do.”

Black Enterprise reports the network’s initial roster includes shows from boss women like Sherri Shepherd, Kym Whitley, Loni Love, music legends, En Vogue, and more.

For nearly two decades, Eldridge has been responsible for running Miles Ahead Entertainment & Broadcasting. She credits her experience in the entertainment industry for her successful launch of the new network.

“I try to keep my fingers at the pulse of what’s happening and making sure my business model as a full-service media, marketing, and broadcast company isn’t just in the mix, but it truly helps impact the culture with our broadcast endeavors, client partnerships, and talent relationships,” said Eldridge. “My longevity is truly connected with my wiliness to pivot and embrace what’s new and what’s next in this business. That’s the only way to survive.”

According to the company’s website, MPN is “a unique destination that reflects the culture, lifestyle and Diaspora of ‘people of color’ from today’s most well-respected voices who are unapologetically authentic leaders. Eldridge also says while working on putting together the new podcast, she was reminded of the importance of good relationships and networking.

“Networking and good relationships are invaluable assets,” Eldridge told Black Enterprise. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve closed a deal or landed new business as a result of a referral, having previously worked with someone, or from someone just talking up my company’s services. My mantra is ‘networking works’ as entrepreneurs — we just have to do more of it!”
